Spontaneous musical constructions in response to portable artworks.

Music collides with art as a collective of Impromptu musicians respond to folding screens painted by artists Fergus Polglase and Alice Bloomfield, in an improvised hour-long LIVE set. The recordings were made in front of an audience in the basement of Louie Louie café, Camberwell - on 27th January 2019 - alongside an exhibition of selected works upstairs from the two artists.

The musicians were asked to respond for roughly 15 minutes to each side of the folding screens. When the response to the first side reaches a natural conclusion, the screen is turned around and the musicians begin the response to the second side. A short break is held for the musicians and audience and then the response to the second screen begins. The screen itself stands in front of both the audience and the musicians, with everyone - including the musicians - experiencing it simultaneously, and for the first time.
